The cozy Rezak residence building, which houses the community kitchen, dinning room and library as well as private rooms.

Life at the Abode of the Message includes the bell which is a call to pray three times daily. One is invited to begin each day with morning prayer and meditation led by a member of our community. Classes and meetings in healing and esoteric studies convene regularly for those who wish to participate. Universal Worship takes place each Sunday followed by a community meal.

Residents live in the rooms created by the Shakers some 150 years ago. These rooms are in the main complex as well as is our communal kitchen and dinning room. Other residents have built houses on the acreage. This remains an option for people who join the community and then stay for a prescribed amount of time. All prospective residents apply to the Residence Committee to live at the Abode of the Message. When it is possible, we ask people to come for a visit. Interviews with applicants take place weekly. Of course, people coming from a long distance may not be able to visit and are interviewed upon arrival or through other means. We also have a Khidmat (spiritual work and study) program for people who may wish to live at the Abode of the Message and learn about Sufism. Room and board fees for all residents are determined by our Executive Committee and form the resource by which we support ourselves. The Abode of the Message is a not-for profit corporation.
