Bed and Breakfast at the Abode of the Message

The Abode is located in a historic Shaker village nestled in over 425 acres of prime forest and farmland at the base of Mount Lebanon, NY. Currently used as a conference and retreat center, the Abode offers travelers a unique opportunity to stop, breathe, relax, and commune with nature in settings of breathtaking beauty, and sacred serenity.

Located near several ski resorts, charming New England towns, historic Hancock Shaker village and museum, the Abode offers access to a wide variety of activities. Nearby Pittsfield Massachusetts provides train and bus service to all major cities (Albany, Boston, NYC), and is only a short car drive away. Our guests are also welcome to visit with the community that lives year round here at the Abode, and is dedicated to the spiritual message of Hazrat Inayat Khan. Founded in l975 as the primary residence of the Sufi Order International, the Abode offers weekly meditations, healing circles, and classes in esoteric studies. Each Sunday, a Universal Worship Service honors the different religions of the world, and is followed by a glorious, delicious and very social Brunch.

Our guesthouse "Mughni" is especially attractive to smaller ski groups that prefer a remote, quiet location over the busy and active resort style accommodation. "Mughni" has newly redecorated rooms to accommodate every family's need. There are rooms with queen sized, double or single beds, room's parents can share with their children, and rooms to accommodate groups of friends traveling together. We have a fully equipped kitchen with dining area available for use, and bathrooms and showers to share.

Guest services include acupuncture, massage, and bodywork, so please inquire at the program office, to help make your stay a truly holistic experience for your body, mind, and soul. We also have a guide on staff available to take you on a leisurely, yet exhilarating tour of the forest and mountain paths by snowshoe!

Rooms and Rates

Room rates include breakfast. Additional meals served by the community available for an additional charge ($6-$8). Please check with the Programs Office.

Single rooms (queen/double/twin) $65 / night per person or $300 / week or $720 / month per person

Shared rooms(queen/double/twin) $50/ night per person or $390 / week or $900/month per person

Children under 12 who share their parent's room are free. Children aged 12 - 16 who share their parent's room are $20/night.
